The Gadsden City School System believes that all students desire to become productive and successful citizens. With this goal in mind, a high school curriculum has been carefully designed to prepare students for post-secondary education and/or the work force. As educators, we realize that the ultimate success of each student is a joint venture involving the student, the parent, and the school.
Course offerings of Gadsden City High School are designed to meet standards and guidelines established by the Alabama State Department of Education. Curriculum planning and student placement decisions reflect policies adopted by the Gadsden City Board of Education. Parents are strongly encouraged to consult with individual school officials when planning the educational future of students. Parents and students are reminded that the successful completion of 30 Carnegie units of credit and the passing of all sections of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam are required to receive a diploma.
Comprehensive four-year educational planning involving parents, students, counselors, and school officials begins in the spring of the eighth grade prior to students entering high school. During the spring of each subsequent year, student planning and registration for the following school year is updated. Again, student, parent, counselor, and teacher cooperation is necessary for proper placement. Classes offered within the Gadsden City System may be subject to various considerations. Course availability may be limited based on instructor availability, school enrollment, number of students enrolled in the class (class size restrictions for maximum and/or minimum), and class prerequisites.
