Health Alert

Gadsden City Schools was recently informed by the Alabama Department of Public Health of a Tuberculosis case involving a student at Gadsden City High School.  Immediately upon learning of this, conversations began with the Alabama Department of Public Health, GCHS and the Central Office administrators on a response that ensures the health and the well-being of students and staff. The students and staff are no longer at risk of exposure to the identified case.  The Alabama Department of Public Health and our school nurses have strict guidelines to safeguard the public’s health in circumstances such as this.  Based upon those guidelines, the following actions will be taken:
Those students at Gadsden City High School who have been identified as potential contacts must be screened for tuberculosis. A letter will be forthcoming with testing instructions for anyone who is believed to have been in close contact with the student.
School will continue as normal.  We will continue to work closely with the officials at the Alabama Department of Public Health and follow all their requirements.  If you have any questions about the procedures we are following, you may contact the school.
